The Quilt Show

My sister, stepmother and niece attended the Annual Quilt Show at the Springville Art Museum. This is the second year I've attended and come away feeling unworthy to quilt yet inspired to try my best. These quilts are really works of art and some quilters really see themselves as artists and their designs could be hung in my house as a work of art, not just a quilt. The following are "paintings" done with fabric.

This is a detail from the quilt above to show you the fabric details.

Here us another by the same artist.

A detail from the above quilt.

This is my favorite of the "painting" quilts.

Of course, there were amazing traditional quilts, too. Here are some of my favorites.

This one won "Best in Show" and deserved it! I've included a d detail. Such tiny blocks!

This was a fun Christmas quilt, with a detail.

This was my favorite:

Here is a close-up view.

Is it possible that these women just have an over-abundance of time on their hands. I'm seriously in AWE!

I think this must be a huge part of their life. They are certainly not women who work outside the home. I have a hard time finishing even a small, simple quilt.

I think I prefer the traditional-style quilts, but the painting ones are just amazing! I can understand why they call themselves artists - I wouldn't be able to paint like that, let alone quilt!
